What Should You Record When Opening a Watch Parcel?
About 3 min read

Record what you actually receive, in the order you encounter it: the unopened parcel’s visible condition, its contents and clear views of the watch before adjustment or use. Keep the original files privately. If you share a copy with the store, conceal address labels and other personal details. This is an optional documentation habit, not a newly imposed return condition.
The references below are unchanged store photographs of Audemars Piguet inventory 02835 and Chanel inventory 03545. Both are replicas, not genuine or manufacturer-authorised watches. These are catalog images, not photographs of a customer’s delivery, and they do not establish what a parcel will contain.
Make a simple sequence rather than a staged reveal
If you choose to record, start before opening and keep the package and contents in view as they appear. Use a stable surface and enough ordinary light to see the item. Do not recreate an earlier opening and describe it as the original event. A recording that starts late can still document what is visible, provided you say which stage it shows.
Item 02835 has a dark patterned face, a bright angular border, a black strap and a coloured sticker across part of the lower face. The equipment behind it is a background detail, not a verified test result or a parcel accessory.

The 03545 reference shows a smaller-looking black numbered face and a dark linked bracelet held beside display boards. Those boards do not identify supplied packaging. The two photographs are not a checklist of delivered contents or a size comparison.

Separate identification, contents and condition
- Identification: Keep the listing link and confirmed version with your private notes.
- Contents: Record the objects actually present; do not add items seen only in a catalog background.
- Condition: Show the front, back, fastening and any area of concern without forcing a control.
- Context: Note when the files were made and whether anything had already been adjusted.
If a surface is covered, describe that limit instead of claiming the hidden area was inspected. Do not remove protective material, open the case or attempt a repair merely to improve the recording. Ask the store how to document a concern while preserving the item’s current condition.
Keep the useful record private
Shipping labels can include names, addresses, telephone numbers and tracking details. Retain an original securely if you need it, but prepare a redacted copy for an enquiry. Share only the item views and order reference the store needs through its intended support channel. A public blog comment is not the place for a label or receipt.
Does making a video guarantee a particular resolution?
No guarantee is added here. Follow the applicable published terms and ask the store about its actual support procedure. A useful record explains what happened; it does not replace an assessment or establish an entitlement.
